Will computers take over the work of translators?
Translation machines are improving; however they still have a very long way to go. Language and computer experts have been saying for decades that they will soon get to the bottom of the phenomenon of language, and that translation will then become purely a matter of processor power. However, the experts have been wrong so far. Translators use more and more tools to increase the speed of translating repetitive passages from texts, but translation machines still are of no use in the professional translation industry. Translation is simply a craft that requires creativity and feeling.
Fasttranslator translation agency does use technology to automatically translate repetitive text, but forgoes the use of translation machines and “smart software”. We are convinced that it takes manual labor to produce a good translation.
